Kim Taylor

Detail: Together they’d sing a rousing rendition of Debby Boone’s “You Light Up My Life” while Kim’s grandfather scoured the backwoods for a good kill. Somewhere along the way Kim began playing the guitar. This led to an immediate thirst for coffee and an eventual desire to sing, drink and play in front of people all at the same time. Eventually she wound up in Cincinnati, Ohio where she followed the call to become the next great short story writer. After flunking an English grammar course she immediately sought out the comfort of a cold, germ ridden bar microphone. There she began to hone the art of writing constantly about how sad she felt. In 2002 she released her first record So Black, So Bright and was crowned new artist of the year by Cincinnati's Citybeat Magazine. She followed with an EP in 2004 and an invitation to Austin's SxSW Festival. In 2005 she tour supported and accompanied Cincinnati based group, Over the Rhine and has since been tricked into opening for Ron Sexsmith, Aqualung, Ben Lee, Teitur, Amy Rigby, Ellis Paul, Antje Duvekot, Clem Snide, Richard Shindell, Tom McRae, Gran Bel Fisher, Ollabelle and a few others. Her sophomore full-length release is entitled I Feel Like A Fading Light and was chosen as album of the week in November by NPR's World Cafe.
